EMERGENCY CAMPAIGN
CUBAN MEDICAL DOCTORS EXILES
IN THIRD COUNTRIES.
|
|
Solidaridad sin
Fronteras, Inc. is a tax exempt non-for-profit corporation registered in Floridaon August 2004,
and founded by Cuban exile medical doctors. Our membership is composed by these
medical doctors living in the United
States and other countries those who have
fled of the communist Cuban government.
Our main objective
is the humanitarian aid to all Cuban medical doctors around the world who are
looking for the freedom and the democracy, escaping of the new form of slavery executed by the communist system.
The Homeland Security Department on September 19, 2006, enacted a legal statement to bring a
refugee parole to these Cuban medical doctors coming from third countries. Our
records show that the number of deserters of the Cuban international mission
has increased in a 300 percent. Currently, the process has been running very
slow.
Our organization
created a special program to attend this problem: “Outside neighborhood”
(Barrio Afuera in Spanish). The program has helped to our colleagues with legal
support, advisory, psychological attention, and financial support to these
professionals who are applying every day for the “refugee” status in the
American embassies in many countries.
Two years ago the process worked efficiently and the
applicants obtained the parole on time. However, in the last months, the
processing time is taking several months. The time is running and our
colleagues are in a dangerous situation. They are suffering of pressures,
extortions, psychological abuse, harass, and possibilities of capture by Cuban
agents and the deportation to Cuba.
In the same way, other
colleagues are in secret homes. In Venezuela, a female Cuban medical
doctor was abused, and five colleagues have been killed. Other colleague was
tortured in Guatemala, among other violations to their human rights in non democratic nations.
By reasons
afore mentioned, Solidaridad Sin Fronteras, Inc. is beginning an emergency
campaign in the United
States and around the world to divulge this
dangerous situation, and to raise the awareness about the problems of Cuban medical doctors in third countries.
We are calling for
your support to this campaign, especially to governmental authorities such as
the State Department, the Homeland Security Department, and other human rights
entities related with a short time solution. In the same manner, we need the
help of the Cuban society and other nationalities to perform the goals of this
urgent and important campaign.
Miami, Florida, February 24, 2009.
